Getting your Kentucky Driver's License back after a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) conviction is simple once the process is understood.
Upon conviction, the Court suspends the defendant's driving privilege for a set period of time, takes the defendant's drivers license, orders fines, fees and costs, attendance at an alcohol education treatment program, and in some cases, jail time. After conviction for DUI in Kentucky, state law directs the Court Clerk to send all suspended driver's licenses to the Department of Transportation.
Drivers licenses may be obtained from the Clerk's office after payment of the reinstatement fee and proof of completion of the alcohol education treatment program, payment of all fees, fines, and costs, and completion of any sentence imposed.
