Kentucky Drivers Take Note: Get convicted of a DUI in another state and the Kentucky Department of Transportation (DOT) may suspend your Kentucky driver's license according to KRS 186.570(4).
Essentially, the Kentucky DOT treats the out-of-state Driving under the Influence (DUI / DWI / OWI) conviction as a Kentucky DUI. The license will be suspended according to the schedule set out in KRS 189A.070. You may request a hearing where proof of the out-of-state conviction and sentence can be shown to the hearing officer. The hearing officer may elect to run the suspensions concurrently if the violator has not driven in Kentucky during the out-of-state suspension period.
