Jockey Craig Perret, will be released January 8, 2007 after serving 120 days for his fourth DUI conviction within five years. His original sentence of three years was amended to 120 days. Perret will be on probation for five years upon his release. All DUI's occurred in Shelby County, Kentucky.
Perret, who began his career in 1967, is best known for his 1990 Kentucky Derby Victory on Unbridled, and for his 57 stakes race wins also in 1990. Perret had 4,415 victories throughout his career, including four Breeders' Cup victories and the 1987 Belmont Stakes aboard Bet Twice.
